What’s a MicroBrew Nail Polish?

MicroBrew Nail Polishes are hand-mixed wee shots of nail color.  A wise woman once told me that “your hands are the only part of yourself you see all day, every day - so you should like what you see.” I want you to like what you see, so I look for inspiration and create unique, wearable color combinations to brighten you day.

Who's behind the brews?

My name is Wendy (Wenders), and once I discovered the indie polish community, I immediately wanted to contribute. Starting with getting my nails done for high school dances, I've had an on/off love affair with polish ever since. I've also always wanted to run my own business. MicroBrews is a micro-business (for now!) and a labor of love I take on when I'm not at my full time job or walking my dog. Creating polishes lets me play with color and glitters - and run my own business. I love all parts of the job equally.

What’s in the Brew?

I use only cosmetic-grade pigments, micas and solvent resistant glitter, added to a 5-free base. This means no dibutyl phthalate (DBP), toluene, formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin or camphor. It’s still nail polish, though, so don’t drink these brews!

How do I make the most of my MicroBrew Nail Polish?

My polishes are formulated to provide full coverage in 2 – 3 coats, depending on how thick you make each coat. I recommend a quality base and top coat – my favorites are Orly’s Top2Bottom and Seche Vite.

I’ve prefer to “dab” most glitter-heavy polishes, indie or not! I also use the foil method to remove glitter polishes. YouTube has solid tutorials on both application and removal of glitter polish. Beware, though, YouTube might suck you in to a vortex of nail art and glittery varnishes!

Like most polishes, MicroBrews may settle over time. Shake it a little before use! If you prefer a slightly thinner formula, just add nail polish thinner - never nail polish remover.

Why aren’t there more MicroBrews available on tap right now?

MicroBrews Nail Polish is being micro-financed. This means I am learning and earning as I grow, with limited releases. If there is a particular polish you’d like and it’s not available, send me message and I’m sure we can work something out.
